Thailand Cyber University’s key activities to support higher education during the pandemic and beyond(Document)ACU Conference - Leapfrogging the Challenges of Higher Education During COVID-19
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected Thai education in all aspects. The sudden shift from teaching in the physical classroom to online mode caused chaos among teachers and students. Universities are trying to support the continuing of education during the crisis by adjusting the teaching and assessment guidelines according to the situation. Thailand Cyber University Project (TCU), under the Ministry of Higher Education Science Research and Innovation (MHESI) of Thailand, has a role in facilitating and supporting universities to utilize technology for enhancing the quality of education. The TCU’s flagship project, Thai MOOC, is the national MOOC platform that coordinates with universities to provide online courses for free to alls. Thai MOOC hosts more than 500 online courses from 100 universities and 20 public and private institutions throughout the country. More than 1.2 million members consist of students, teachers, and working people from all age range registered to learn one or more online courses. This presentation addresses TCU’s strategies to support universities and faculty members in overcoming the pandemic and facilitating universities to the new normal ways of education according to the MHESI’s Strategic Direction for Post-COVID-19 Recovery and the Thailand national education reform plan.
